Commissions

Here are a few of my latest commissions.

Kay’s Kitchen

2023

This project was a gift from my client to her mother. I was requested to take her mothers old collection of recipes, and transform them into a modern, cohesive cookbook. The recipes were originally collected many decades ago from friends and family, newspapers, and magazines. My client stated her mother was an exceptional cook and these were the recipes that raised their family and therefore I found it an honour to take part in such a personal gift.

The book is compiled of 58 recipes ranging from lunch, dinner and dessert. The client requested the cover page resemble the apron her mother wore whilst cooking these dishes.

His & Hers

2020-2022

I was asked by couples to create matching garments to be worn at the New Zealand festival “Rhythm and Vines” years 2020 and 2022.

The clients provided their measurements and choice of fabric. Using this I designed and created tailored garments.

OJays’ Skate

2019-2023

Alongside my university studies I created a small side project refurbishing used skateboards. I collected old skateboards from skate shops, friends or second hand shops. Depending on the condition, the boards would be repaired or transformed into decor.

Clients would often request specific designs or themes, but in the case of the boards you see here, I was given creative freedom.

This cruiser was a second hand board which the client requested be refurbished so she was able to ride it again. I sanded down any imperfections, bogged nicks, replaced the grip on the front of the board and added new trucks. She had requested a tropical design in this colour scheme. I hand painted an organic 70’s inspired line and tropical flowers, leaving exposed wood. The board has a resin coating to protect the art work and the board from damages in the future.

This skateboard was well loved by the client who no longer saw fit to ride it and therefore requested it be transformed into a decor piece. I repaired the board to a cosmetic level by using wood chips to restore the edges of the board, sanding and bogging. I created a design inspired by the muppet “Gonzo” at the clients request. The linework is completely hand painted and protected with a thin layer of resin.
